What should I be looking for? I know city and state requirements differ from city to city or state to state, but what are the basic things I should be expecting during the purchasing, repairing, and renting the property? I am looking at three properties which are bank repos and the price is pretty reasonable.
These properties were orignally single family homes not rental properties.

Any pointers? Like cheap houses to fix up and rent out.

My landlord has sent us a 15 day notice of eviction because he came into our house when we were not here and without permission or notice and saw that we had gotten a small dog. The lease does say that pets are not allowed but the guy is a family friend and said he would let it slide with our other two dogs because it is a big house with a huge yard. We do not pay rent, instead we work for him (a lot) in lou of the rent but on the eviction notice he stated that we owe him $4000 in rent! My husband landscapes all of his properties (including a huge apartment building), is the super of his apartment building, fixes his other rentals, and cuts down his trees. He has never paid us for our work it has just always come off of the rent. We have lived here for a year and have never received a rent bill or a late notice. We have three babies and I heard that in the state of PA you can’t evict someone if they have small children, is that true? What are our rights?

I don’t want to live in a big apartment complex, but I don’t know how to find a little guest house or duplex (or some other small property) for rent. Where does one find this resource?

I moved out of the property (roommate stayed) giving the landlord written notice that I was moving and the security deposit should remain on the current account. This letter was accepted and I thought all was well and finished, however, I recently was notified that I am still being held responsible for the account there at the property because my roommate didn’t give written notice that she was aware that I moved out and she agreed to have the deposit remain on her account. Is the legal?

Add’l note: We were on a month to month lease which required only to give 60 day written notice and this is what I did.

I’m going to rent property in Singapore using an agent. The house costs SGD3.5k a month. Will I need to pay the agent’s fee? I believe that there’s some proviso saying that if an apartment costs X amount of money, you dont need to pay an agent fee.

I will be in the area from 4-14 Feb’08 and I must find a place to rent during this time. It must be near town centre in any village or town in this area. All I need is to be within easy access to the motorway and not too far from any of the airports. The agents keep on sending me available property that is far above my affordable budget. I just need a small place as it is only myself and my old cat and my husband to live in it…I am 55 and my husband is 63. We are both working.I am desperate and it is vital and urgent that we find a place during this coming week!

It’s in Huntingon, WV, also where Marshall University is. The town consists of an older generation and the other 1/2 college students. The population is of 60k and the place of where we’d be is free of rent (my grandmothers commercial property), but we’d have to pay for renovations.
