Can someone else buy property for you but not have their name on the deed?

There is a piece of land I want to buy. My mother offered to pay for it so that I wouldn’t have to go through a bank for a loan and I would be paying her back monthly on our own pay shedule. She does not want her name on the deed, just mine. Can we do this? Would she be allowed to buy property but not have it in her name? She wouldn’t be giving me the money to pay for it, she would be paying the sellers directly. Thanks for any advice you can give!

Landlord won’t return deposit?

I rent a home and put down a $600 deposit. I had a 9 month lease, I then signed a new month to month lease after the 9 month had expired (it was a new lease not just going month to month). I moved out and it took the landlord a few weeks to do a walk through. He said everything was great (I had spent $250 have the carpets and house cleaned professionally). He has nothing but great things to say about us. I asked for the deposit and he said the depoait was money to hold the house (we gave the deposit 11 days before we moved in, since we were selling our home and moving long distance), the deposit was not for secuirty reasons just to hold the place.
I was polite and said I believed deposits were for making sure the house was damage free and rent was paid up, he agreed the home was fine and the rent was all paid.
I pointed out the second lease says the deposit we paid earlier would transfer to the new lease.
he said he would get back to us, he was headed on vacation.
It has been a week with no communication, how should Iproceeed. Is it worth fighting or going to court?
I bought a home again so I won;t be renting again.
I took a video and pictures of the home before I moved in, and I took an extensive video and over 100 pictures when I moved out. Since it took him so long for the walk through I had members of the home owners association walk through before I moved.
The orginal lease says a $600 deposit is required and then states the day it was paid. The next line states there would be a $600 pet deposit and then next to that we signed stating we had no pets and that it was N/A.
The second lease just states that the deposit carries over to the new lease and states the date we paid the deposit. Why would it carry over if it was a holding deposit??
The lease was just one of those forms you print off the internet. The landlord is his first time renting (it was his vacation/golf house).

i just purchsed a forecloser free&clear in detroit for 25,000 thats worth 100,000and im wondering if i cant sell it fast enough (3 months) should i just take out a home loan and keep and pay interest on the loan while trying to sell it to invest in other properties that may sell before my original 25,000 purechase to keep leverage on my money?

I work for one of the well know Pest Control companys in the country. I’m in sales and my job is to go to peoples homes and sell the treatments. The way it works is, I have to make my draw of the month first before I get commision on my sales. I’m the best sales person in the region right now but my boss just seem unsatisfy with my work. When I don’t get sales he thinks I’m taking a vacation. I’m busting my butt off and also, before I get pay for the jobs I sold, the work have to be done first. They’re short of technicians and sometimes he would ask me to go do the job myself. This happen for the 4th time now. I was hired to be the sales person but now, I have to go do the technicians job too in order for me to get pay. The worse thing is, I don’t get pay for doing the technicians job. I feel like I have to do everything on order to get pay the money I already earned. His boss would get on his asss for being so freakin unorganized and then he would get my asss too. What should I do?

The idea was to keep it for 3 years and reasess the situation then (until June 2009), but the other owner wants to sell the property now as he wants the money for another business investment. My husband owns 1/2 and his brother and sister-in-law own 1/2 a house together (their dad’s house – inherited). The problem is my husband and his brother can’t agree on a selling price, and his brother refused my husband’s offer to buy his half out. His brother wants to sell the house fast for a low price (yet refused my husband’s offer of what he would end up with, if he got the price he wants minus the realtor’s cut) and my husband (if he isn’t allowed to buy his brother out for what we can afford) would like to sell it for a higher price, even if that means we have to hold onto it longer. The price my husband set it at is still considerably less than the value it was appraised at before property values fell. His brother chose the realtor, who hasn’t been officially hired yet. The realtor feels that my husband’s price is the most they can get for it, but what he doesn’t know is that my husband will refuse any offer lower than that.
His brother is a controller and wants to make all the decisions, yet my husband is the executor.
The brother is the one who chose the realtor and doesn’t want my husband to get a different one involved.
It doesn’t make sense that his brother wants to sell the house fast and cheap, but yet would not even entertain the idea of selling his half to my husband. The price my husband offered was in keeping with the price his brother would get if it sold for the price he wants. Any money over that would go to pay the realtor’s commission.
I wish there was some King Solomon who could make a decision that would be right and fair. His brother is all about the money and my husband is all about hanging onto something that is important to him.

My mother in law past o’ way few months ago and my father in law can’t handle their rental property. He asked us to take it over and just pay him some cash so he can pay off his current house.
On the rental property they don’t own any money, paid off, bought it in 70’s for 112K and the value is now about 285K. He wants to have about 200K orless from myself and mywife (his doughter). What would be the best way to approach this, aprticularly that my mother in law past’o way in May. They have filed this property as rental type and I am assming they have probably deprciated for about 50K. Is it true that my father inLaw’s step up bases is 175K now and if he sales the property to us for that value than he won’t pay any taxes. So what is the best way to buy it from him or just have the tile tranfer to us. One other thing if he gives us this house as a gift can I than refinance give him a gift using our life gift value, not sure. Also I don’t want to pay any down payment, if purchasing it.

My 4 gite complex is very popular, generating steady income, has minimal running costs and takes very little work to run (changing sheets at weekend in the summer), and comes with a fantastic house to live in with pool. It would be ideal business for a retired couple to live in and run, its near an airport an hours flight from the UK they could sell their house in the UK and with the money be earning rental income which would fund a great lifestyle. What would you recommend? They advised me to look into leasing with the possibility of owning which would be by using part of the money for the rent to pay for the house for a certain period of time. Now, it will be useful to find a place or website where no realtors but owners are involved that offer this option. If you know of anything please let me know. I live in Florida. Any helpful answers will be welcomed.

I live in Canada and I think the economy here is well. Now I am planning on buying and flipping a house for the first time. Would it be better to buy a house or condo? Also if I pay downpayment on a house/condo that is still under construction, and then decide to withdraw from the transaction, are there any risks involved? When the house/condo is complete and the value has gone up or down, will I always get all my money (downpayment) back if I decide to sell? The community has more than 40% rental units which is said to negatively effects property values….so the HOA recently passed a rule that not more than 30% of the homes can be rentals,at the time we thought nothing of it and signed in favor of the rule.But now we need to rent out the home.

I purchased a 2 bdrm/2bath in late 2005 in DC. I put 10% down on the property and currently paying interest only on a 7 year ARM. Everyone knows the market is in a free fall and I will probably lose money if I sell right now. I have a 2 yr. old with another child on the way this year and the place is getting too small. My wife and I want to move to a bigger place. Should I continue paying interest only payments on a place that is losing money or wait out the real estate strorm and rent the unit?
