Singapore PR with Blue IC can buy any type of privet apartment .condo / For Landed property subject to approved by URA / HDB only from open market not allow any new unit direct from HDB. Foreigner’s is allow to own privet apartment and condo that with more than 6 story project.( of course can own any unit , from ground FL to high FL ) those apartment total less than 6 story is not allow to own any unit. If your son only 5, since service National Service was ~16-18years old, are you (or whole family) going to sleep in the street for another 13 years?
From your question, I assume that, you are either PR or non-citizen.
In Singapore, foreigners can’t buy landed property but they can apply through SLA for approval to buy, you can read up more information at below links.
But, it is easier for a foreigner to buy a condominium instead.
So, in conclusion, if you just buy condominium instead of a landed property, it can be done.

You can. But i believe it will be more expensive for you. And by the way, if you’re a Singapore citizen, it is compulsory for ALL boys aged between 18-22 to serve in the military. There is no escaping it, unless you want to spend time in jail and probably be thrown out of the country. You can only be excused unless you have a mental disorder. Even if you have mild health problems like asthma, you will be posted to be a driver or clerk, doing basically less exhausting work.
Oh, even girls can serve in the military. But it’s voluntary, and very few girls choose that path. They do exactly the same tasks as the boys do.
