I am looking to start leasing a property and would like to know if I would be allowed to build an extension onto it?

That is what you discuss with the owner and have included in your lease

Highly unlikely unless your landlord has given you express permission to do something like this. Think about it this way…if you were renting a property that you owned, would you let your renter build an addition onto it??

    prolly not…

My contract specifically prohibited permanent additions.

Absolutely yes, with the landlords written permission.

To do otherwise is a breach of your lease. You may also need the owners permission in order to get required permits.

it will be up to your landlord to approve that. if it adds value he may agree.

Not without owner approval and most landlords will not approve this major of a project.

Why would you put that kind of money into something you do not own anyway??
