Divorce and Property?

sell property fast

I got a divorce in 2001. We had property together, he agreed to refinance , i let him have it. Months later he told me he sold it i said ok. Fast Forward..It’s March 2007, I am ready to get a new house..they pull my credit report…the first house wasnt sold it was forclosed.. I have no way to contact the ex. Apparently he lied. I looked at my final divorce decree, says he is responsible for the house I am divested of all rights to it, title, interest and clain in to that property, if i give this to the credit ppl can it come off my credit? What should I do? It feels like he screwed my future.

Yes, you should be able to clear this up with the credit
    reporting company.

I would send them a letter disputing the item and explain to them the situation and send a copy of the divorce papers (at least the part stating that the house info). You might even try calling them first and telling them what’s going on and if it’ll be removed with that information. I did that once before with a judgement I had vacated to find out what I needed to send them and they were able to tell me. I don’t see any reason why it should remain on your credit with the information you have. If need be contact your attorney that filed your divorce and see if he can’t help you out, but I would try sending the letter (certified) and copy of the paper first. Good luck!

It’s a bunch of red type but you can have it put back on his shoulders and clear your record. Don’t ever trust someone like that again.

Sorry but it will be almost impossible to get this off your credit, even though the decree says he is responsible. You had a contract with the mortgage company and you were still responsible for the debt. I am in a similar situation (she hasnt defaulted but the mortgage still shows on my credit report)

Get back in touch with the divorce court and see if they have any suggestions. Yes, inform the credit companies and try to explain what happened. You may even be able to sue him for any losses on the property from his actions. Good luck.

Contact Experian, Equifax and TransUnion (the 3 credit buraues) and dispute the claim. That would be your best bet to clear your credit from this. It will take 30 days to get reported and 30 day’s more to show up on credit. I would wait until your credit is fixed before getting into a new home loan because your interest rate will be rediculous.

Contact me if you need a dispute form or have any other questions.
