My Cat has a eye infection. What should I do?
One of my cats eye is shut he will not open it he has all this goo comeing out of it so I took my cat the the vet. The dude checked his eye tells me he has an eye infection gives him a shot sells me some antibiotic drops. He tells me If It is not back to normal the next day then bring him back so he can do a check up. I dont think that sounds normal. For humans a doctor will tell you to come back in a week. If I was in the states I would probably do it without asking but I am at my vacation home in Mexico and most people here try to make an extra buck when they can off an American. I do not want nothing to happen to my cat. So what I am asking is should I take him to the vet today or should I wait like 3 or 4 days to see if it heals.
Yes this is real. From what I understand the swine flu is in the usa also. I have not seen anyone here with the swine flu. What kind of a person are you to leave your cat at home while you go on a vacation for a month?
the drops are in spanish I dont understand.

I would see if the drops work first. A day is too short to tell if the drops are going to work. If it starts to get better than obviously it’s working, if not, then go back.

Antibiotic drops don’t work in a day – it takes several days. What sort of drops did they give you? And you bring your cat down there with you? That sounds a bit unlikely. And odd that you’d be in “Mexico” with the swine flu down there right now. Is this a real post or a bored teenager?

give it a couple days. it may just be a scratch and not even an eye infection, especially if it plays with other cats. and most meds wont heal and infection in a single day. i had my kitten on tons of antibiotics and some took up to a month to fully have an effect. definitely keep an eye on it but i wouldnt think one day would be a huge difference

Keep the eye clean with saline solution, or an eye wash for cats. I think waiting a few days would be alright. Just make sure you keep it clean. If it gets worse you can take it back. But I’m not sure if I’d trust a vet from an unfamiliar country. Use your best judgment. If Kitty is in pain, time to see the mexi-vet.
