Amtrak doesn’t go into Mexico that I know of. I would try calling their reservation line to double check. 1-800-USA-RAIL
If you are one gringa (white girl) traveling alone or with kids I would not recommend traveling by bus in Mexico. If you are going with someone or are latina/o, you’ll probably not encounter any problems at all.
Without knowing what town you plan to cross the border at, I don’t know what busline to recommend checking into. But, I would check the websites for Estrella Blanca and Estrella de Oro – they are both high quality companies and the Estrella Blanca site covers all of their affiliates. I would highly recommend taking the highest class of bus available – they are WAY cleaner, newer, roomier, and more comfortable (and I think, safer).

    Good luck!

Si hablas y entiendas bien y seas cuidadosa, no tendras problemas. Yo, que tu, diria al marido que te acompana de la frontera a casa. Si nada mas, tendran un poquito mas tiempo juntos :)

In Mexico most major cities have a central camionera with buses leaving to most major cities. try ODM Omnibus De Mexico or ENT. I don’t know if am track goes into mexico i’ve never heard of such a thing. As for safety, i can tell you is to use the usual caution when you travel. don’t go too far from the bus if it stops, don’t call too much atention to yourself. the same rules as if you were traveling within the US

There are no passenger trains in Mexico, but there is an excellent bus system that is luxurious , clean and safe. You can get buses into Mexico from many U.S. cities…tho the bus from there to the border is under Greyhound and not so nice, then you switch to the much nicer Mexican bus. You can leave from Laredo, or McAllen Tx ( my favorite as the station is so nice and there are several Mexican lines with buses leaving every hour or so.) Senda and ETN are very nice lines. You could take Amtrak to Austin ,Tx, then take Senda to Aguascalientes. …that is one option.
